Vintage round table, peg leg, three leg table redo, painted

Hey! It is early  not sure why I am up so early today. But I now have time to throw together a post before I get the youngin up for school.

I debated for months on painting this table as it is pretty darn old. Well before my time. But I finally sucked it up and did it. My original plan was to sell it and a mirror to match. Eh, not happening I love the way it turned so much I do believe it it going to be my inspiration to change the curtains and material on my dining chairs. Nothing major but a small change goes a long way.
Part of the finished product for my bloggette friends who want the whole enchilada now.
So this one is pretty straight forward. Sand it, paint it white. Find it to boring add some black...ahhh yeah that is cool. I did find that the Behr with primer in one still took about 4 coats o this thing and I still didn't get the coverage I wanted. Hence the deciding to paint it more decoratively.

Yeah and I found a whole stack of music notes at the thrift store for like a dolla! HOLLA!
See where I put it? I had to come up with something so I didn't have to fine tune my paint lines lol. Didn't feel like it. This was an easy fix.  Got that little knobby do at Hob Lob in the clearance section for a buck-a-rooo. Yeah I am a little bargain shopper to don't think otherwise.

One lesson I learned is putting checks on a circle can be tedious. I had to find the middle of the circle first. The I did two apart lines both ways on the white paint. Then I thought I will throw tape over them and cut around the square. HAHAHAHA I couldn't see the dang lines. There was no way I was going to tear off all that tape at 7 bucks a roll. I drew the lines again over the tape.
Note to self : next time tape first, draw lines. It works, it really does.

So, from there I cut the tape out and went to town paint in the squares black. This whole process was rather quick. My son worked on his project I worked on mine. WE had a good day.

Here she is from start to finish.

Marshall my husband thought it was funny that I could talk on the phone to Rosanna at the same time lol.

Well this has been used so much the Behr name is nearly gone lol.

I took the bottom off and fixed a few things. Decided to tape off he spots I wanted to paint black. Plus it made this piece more portable to I could have it right on my lap in the tv room and chill with fam.

 Worthless lines drawn grrrr...lol..

My son drawing his own lines. On canvas...awesome.

He rocked it out.

So yeah, here it fully taped..when you overlap tape. Yeah, it gets darker. Lol. I couldn't see the pencil lines underneath.

A ruler, or straight edge and an exacto knife a must for this project.

 First coat o' black.

Second coat and third coat and maybe even 4th lol.

There she is on top. I had some touch ups to do still do but for the most part it worked great. I still ran the exacto knife all the edges to cut the paint because I didn't want the tape pulling my paint up.

Taped off to paint the edge black. Just ran the knife along the side to get the circle shape.

Sorry Beethoven...

 Modge Podge to the rescue.

Sorry so many pics. This was a quicky post. Gotta go to work.
Thanks for looking.
Deb

Love that table. I've been wanting to paint a dresser and it's just so hard to get those lines. Great idea to tape it off and then cut off what you don't want. Might try that!

Debra@Dejarenew.blogspot.com said...

Yeah the tape works well for that.

Super cute! All that worked with the tape and the exacto knife really paid off! The top looks amazing! My thought when you showed the music book was to hang on to the front cover! That medallion style design is awesome. I could see using that as a pattern in a future project!
